Welcome to Class 1! We are a super close team made up of Jayne Boast as class teacher and Jess Kettlewell, Vicky Hughes and Julie Smith as teaching assistants. We have a passion for Early Years and Key Stage 1 with a wealth of educational experience. Class 1 and 2 work really closely with each other throughout the week. Due to our small classes, there are times where we split Reception and Year 1 to have increasingly focused learning.
We have a massive passion for outdoor learning and benefit from our incredible outdoor areas. Both our outdoor and indoor classroom supports children in all areas of EYFS & KS1 curriculum. We actively encourage free-flow play by having two adults in our environment to support learning opportunities both inside and outside whilst also keeping children safe. We are lucky enough to have our magical forest school at the end of our school field and we access this at least once a week for a full afternoon. Parents are warmly welcomed into Class 1 at the start of the day and also often volunteer with activities such as our fortnightly visit to library van or during our weekly Forest School sessions. Throughout the year, we also invite parents in for ‘stay and play’ sessions, giving opportunities to play and learn, as well as an opportunity to observe lessons such as phonics and maths to help support learning at home.
