Welcome to Class 3! We are a mixed age class of Year 3 and Year 4. Molly Owen is our class teacher and Diane Goodwin is our wonderful teaching assistant. We are also lucky enough to have Jess Kettlewell teaching us on a Friday morning and Vicky Hughes also joins us as a teaching assistant on a Wednesday afternoon.
Our class is a vibrant and inclusive space where children support each other to thrive in all areas of learning. Over a two year rolling programme, we learn about a diverse range of topics including Ancient Egypt, Antarctica, Prehistoric Life and Volcanoes. We immerse ourselves in these topics across many areas of the curriculum; whether that be using compass points to plan out our own ‘Antarctic expedition’, writing a story set during the Roman Empire, creating our own Stone Age inspired cave paintings or questioning and researching who really built the Egyptian pyramids.
A highlight of our year in Class 3 are our weekly swimming lessons throughout the summer term. These are in addition to the two brilliant PE lessons we receive from a sports coach each week. We are also lucky enough to have a fantastic forest school area and enjoy our weekly sessions there where we are encouraged to practise our team work skills, be curious and get a bit muddy!
