At St. Mary's Primary School, Physical Education (PE) is a vital part of our curriculum, designed to engage and inspire students of all abilities. Following the National Curriculum, we have worked closely with Total Sports to create a long-term plan that reflects both the needs of our pupils and the importance of a well-rounded physical education experience. We take into account pupil voice, ensuring that students have a say in what they would like to include in their PE lessons, making the program even more meaningful and inclusive.
Our school benefits from exceptional fields and grounds, which provide ample space for a variety of activities. We run sports clubs each evening for children from EYFS through to Year 6.
We also participate in a competitive events calendar, engaging in inter-school competitions against other local schools, organized by Total Sports. These events help develop our pupils' teamwork, leadership, and resilience, and encourage a love for physical activity.
Year 3 and 4 go swimming in the summer term to Energise in York.
