Our Faith - Diocese
Diocese
At St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School we have two Foundation Governors who are appointed by the York Diocese.
Mrs Glynis Ashford
Mrs Ann Watson
Foundation Governors
The role of the Foundation Governor is to ensure that the schools distinctive Christian character and values lie at the heart of the school in its development and achievement of the whole child.
They ensure that key events in the church year are celebrated by the school and embedded in the everyday life of the school community.
They monitor impact of provision and talk to the children as well as teachers about the ethos of the school. As Foundation Governors they articulate the Christian vision of the school and oversee the ‘well-being’ of the whole school community.
Our Parish Church
This is our local church in the Parish of Marston Moor, where we join in with our community for Harvest and Easter Services.
We also visit the Church as part of our Religious Education.
Our local Vicar
The Rev. Martin Otter is our local vicar serving the Parish of Marston Moor: Askham Richard, Bilbrough, Rufforth, Long Marston and Tockwith.
He delivers collective worship in school and supports our children and staff throughout the year.
Please contact Martin to discuss:
